The Shelter House

You may think it's just a small log cabin, but make no mistake, The Zuhflucht haus (zoo-flookt-haws) has been standing in Emmaus for over 275 years. It was erected in 1734 by German Settlers seeking religious freedom. It's timbered construction planted the seeds for modern Emmaus to start growing and forming into the town we know and love today, right by the three crossing rivers. The Shelter 'haus' isn't housing any german settlers nowadays, but it remains standing as a monument of modern Emmaus. It's the seed that started it all!
